Karen Costin is a 5 Element Acupuncture practitioner with over 18 years experience treating women who have difficulty conceiving.  She has indepth expertise in helping women through each stage of pregnancy, from pre- conception care and support during infertility treatments, through pregnancy and birth, to successful post natal care.

Karen’s practice predominantly involves treating infertility. She uses Acupuncture to assist women who have been diagnosed with various types of infertility, including PCOS, blocked fallopian tubes and endometriosis. One of the most common diagnosis of her client base is unexplained infertility, which can be treated very successfully with Acupuncture.

Through various studies, Acupuncture has been shown to significantly increase conception rates during IVF treatment to 42%, from the normal rate of 27%. Male conditions cause between 35% and 40% of infertility problems, and for these Karen has a range of treatments.

Karen has also helped many women during pregnancy and birth to significantly reduce the incidence of hypertension, pre-eclampsia, oedema and breech presentation, making for a less stressful, safer and more relaxing pregnancy and birth for mother and baby.

Finally, Karen has extensive experience in post natal treatment, specifically around post natal depression.
